ABSTRACT – One of the major developments in the recent explorations of femtosecond lasers have been in the realm of how quickly a new shaped pulse can be produced in femtosecond pulse shaping. We have recently broken into the MHz repetition rate barrier of femtosecond pulse shaping, which we discuss briefly. Our approach of Fourier domain pulse shaping with acousto-optic modulator has broken this new update speed limitations. This new pulse shaping scheme has now enabled the exploration of ‘coherent control’ in new light. In this talk, I will focus on the aspects of ‘control’ that are of relevance to the recent surge of interest in quantum computing irrespective of the choice of interacting systems.
