Abstract:
Atomistic spin dynamics (ASD) and atomistic spin-lattice dynamics (ASLD) have emerged as powerful computational approaches for studying the behavior of magnetic materials at the atomic scale. ASD focuses on the time evolution of atomic magnetic moments under the influence of effective magnetic fields, providing insights into temperature-dependent magnetic properties, ultrafast magnetization processes, and spin-wave excitations. Extending this framework, ASLD incorporates both spin and lattice degrees of freedom, enabling the exploration of coupled spin-lattice phenomena, such as magnetoelastic effects, phonon-magnon interactions, and the influence of lattice vibrations on magnetic order.
In this seminar, we will review the fundamental principles of ASD and ASLD, discussing the theoretical models and computational methods that underpin these approaches.
