Glasses and advanced ceramics
The work carried out by K J Rao at this time is largely collaborative. It includes work on plumbo-telluro-borate glases with Drs. V C Veeranna Gowda and C Narayana Reddy of Bangalore University, zinc oxide nanostructures with Professor S A Shivashankar and his group at IISc and on a variety of nano materials with Professor A Naik and his group at Kuvempu University. Results of collaborative research are at various stages of publication and communication to journals. A book on Materials science is at an advanced stage of preparation.
K J Rao is also engaged in giving lectures on various topics of science to audiences which include senior school students, college students pursuing science studies and scientists and academics interested in science and society. The topics range from Chemistry as central science to the threat of carbon emission to the wave of nanoscience and technology to the wisdom of Indo-US 123 agreement, to the chemistry in the human body etc..
