Abstract

Nitrogen Vacancy center in diamond is one of the optically active point defects present in diamond which has unique band structure and electronic energy levels. It can act as a very good magnetic field, electric field sensor and also can be used for nano NMR which is of high sensitivity but poor spectral resolution. It is also a good candidate towards quantum computation.

In this presentation I will discuss about some properties of Nitrogen vacancy center and how it can behave as a good quantum sensor. I will also talk about NV center assisted nano NMR and what are the advantages and disadvantages of it over normal NMR. Then I will show its application towards quantum computation where it achieves a long coherence time though hyperfine interaction with the nearby nuclear spin. There are also some other application of NV center where it acts as a magnetometer which I will discuss lastly.
