Abstract:

The physical realization of a quantum computer is one of the most ambitious technology worldwide. The fundamental quantum computing unit comprises two-level quantum systems, namely quantum bit (or qubit). Spin based devices are immensely attractive in this context due to their easy readability by an electric or magnetic field. In this perspective, the nuclear spin-based devices show an additional gain of coherence time compared to electron spin-based devices due to their better isolation from the environment. In this talk, I will discuss the advantages of molecular spin-based systems over non-molecular systems, the uses of molecular systems as a spin qubit and their high potential to realize a quantum computer.
